Year 11s - Teacher Assessed GradesWe would like to congratulate students on the past few months:
the manner in which they approached their assessments was exceptional and their leavers’ celebrations were some of the most memorable, leaving us in true BVC style.
Since finishing with us, the college has been undertaking the process of submitting Teacher Assessed Grades to the awarding bodies. Prior to doing so, teachers and subject leads ensured that all work was moderated in-line with examination-board materials and our centre policy. Additionally, our work in this area was scrutinised and quality-assured by our trust, Anglian Learning, ensuring the data we submitted was broadly in-line with historical trends and performance. Once our grades were with the awarding bodies, we then were asked to send a sample of work, so that our judgments could be externally verified and we wait to hear from them concerning any further adjustments which may be required.
As mentioned in the JCQ Guidance, we have used a range of evidence with which to make a holistic judgement about the level at which students were working, as can be seen here. A key principle underpinning the entire process is that judgements should be made based on the assessment evidence, not the potential of the student. As in a normal year, we would expect there to be a range of students reaching or exceeding their anticipated/target grades, and also those who may not have.
Over the course of the next few weeks before the end of term, we shall be communicating with you the plans for results day - Thursday 12th August 2021 (am) - and how to contact the college for further guidance on the final grades awarded by the examination boards.
