The House GamesIn order to bring our house system to a spectacular close this year, we have decided to rebrand our traditional sports day as The House Games.
This will take place on Tuesday 23rd July. It will be a whole day of enrichment activities for all students in years 7-10, with multiple sports on offer for students to participate in, as well as non-sporting activities such as art, cooking and board/card games. All activities will be competitive in nature, and there will be plenty of opportunities for all students to show off their talents.
The day will be structured as follows, with no curriculum lessons taking place:
8:45-10:15 – Extended form
10:15-10:40 – Break time
10:40-12:30 – Enrichment activities
12:30-1:10 – Lunch time
1:10-3:05 – Our traditional athletics festival out on the field
Students will be choosing their enrichment activities in the coming weeks during form time. These are slightly different for each year group, but include: rounders, football, cricket, tennis, badminton, dance, cheerleading, art, cooking and board games.
ALL students will then gather on the field after lunch to participate and support the competitive inter-house athletics festival. At the end of the day, one house will be awarded the house games trophy for their efforts throughout the day.
To ensure the day can be as enjoyable as possible for your child, please make note of the following:
- All students should come to school in their Bottisham VC PE kit, and remain in that kit for the day
- Students should have a water bottle so they can refill throughout the day, and sun cream/sunhat if the weather is warm/sunny
- There will be opportunities to purchase cakes and other items from tuck shops at break and lunch time (this will be a house competition to see who can raise the most money!). Please send your child in with some money if they wish to contribute to this.
For students to find out if their house has been crowned winners for the entire school year, they will have to wait until their house assembly on the following day, Wednesday 24th July, the final day of the school year.
We hope these changes will lead to an enjoyable and memorable day for all of our students. In the event of poor weather, the contingency will be to return to a normal timetabled day, so students should bring school books in as normal just in case.
