Tea & TalkThe week beginning 13th May is National Mental Health Awareness week.
The theme for 2019 is Body image – how we think and feel about our bodies. Body image issues can affect all of us at any age, but they can be particularly apparent during the adolescent years.
During the week, students will receive assemblies and form time sessions around promoting a positive body image, and students will consider some of the reasons why their body image can affect the way in which they feel.
We will also be running a series of lunchtime events throughout the week to promote awareness of how students can look after their mental health, and we will be highlighting activities that they can do to improve wellbeing.
These will include activities such as art and chat, mindfulness, sport activities, a quiz, and techniques to manage stress and anxiety.
We are also delighted to invite parents and carers into school on Wednesday 15 May at 2pm for a Tea and Talk event to raise funds for the Mental Health Foundation.
This is an opportunity for you to look after your own wellbeing – enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake and give yourself time for a chat with friends and form new acquaintances.
Please come to the main school reception at 2pm, where we will meet you and take you through to the Urwin room for tea, cake and the opportunity to chat. I hope to see you there.
With best wishes
