Returning to school in January

Covid Testing

We have been informed by the Department of Education that schools should test all students (who give consent) for Covid in school when they return after the Christmas holidays in January.
According to guidance recently updated, secondary students (and staff) should take a test on the day before returning to school, on-site as they return to school, followed by another at home three to four days later.
As I am sure you will understand, organising the testing of over 1.300 students before they can get back into the classroom is extremely challenging and we will need your support to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible. Therefore, the plan is as follows:

  Testing Return to School
Tuesday 4th January Year 7 & 11
Wednesday 5th January Year 9 & 10 Year 7 & 11
Thursday 6th January Year 8 Year 9 & 10
Friday 7th January   Year 8

Students will be invited into school to test themselves (overseen by staff) in January using our booking system to secure a time slot.
Appointments can be made from 13th December and will close on 3rd January at 6.00pm.
Please visit https://bottishamvc.parentseveningsystem.co.uk to book your appointments, logging in with the following information:

• Your title, first name and surname
• Your email address registered with the school
• Your child’s first name, surname and date of birth

Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact bgreig@bottishamvc.org

Remote learning will be put in place on google classroom to ensure students do not lose any vital learning.https://www.bottishamvc.org/images/uploads/documents/Parents%E2%80%99_Guide_to_Home_Learning.pdf

We know this will be an inconvenience to some parents who will find this challenging and if there are exceptional circumstances, we will do everything we can to help. Please contact enquiries@bottishamvc.org if you need support.
