Letter to parents

Opening school in September

I am aware that we are all being bombarded with a variety of guidance and media reports at present which raises questions both in school and in your households regarding the reopening to all students in September 2020.  Whilst we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back, we are still to finalise all of our plans in order to ensure that they meet all Government guidance and risk assessments have been shared and agreed beforehand.
Obviously, as a community, schools and families must work together to robustly ensure that protocols and expectations are followed. We are confident that if everyone plays their part, the finalised plans will allow us to open the school safely and successfully.
We are planning to send a video and letter to all parents by the beginning of next week to allow for time for further questions that may arise and also a video for students explaining the expectations of them and reasons behind these. A letter will accompany the video with more detailed links to guidance you might find helpful. Obviously, in the time that passes between now and September, Public Health and Government may have changed much of the detail of the reopening plans: this will be communicated to both parents and students in the week leading up to the return of students.
Parents of students in Year 10 will be aware a consultation process is taking place between schools, unions and OFQUAL, as they endeavour to find a suitable and fair way forward for next year’s GCSE examinations. In order to outline our plans for the academic year, we are organising an online parent information evening on Wednesday 2 September to update parents on the outcome of this and our approach moving forward.

In order for us to gain an understanding of some of the questions you may like to ask us at this time, we have produced a questionnaire to gather some crucial data. If you would be so kind as to complete this as soon as possible, we shall endeavour to answer as many of these through our end of term communication:

As always thank you for on-going support and patience at this time.

Mrs Rankine
