Changes to buying College uniformWe would like to thank parents and carers for supporting the college with our changes to branded trousers and skirts.
Pleasingly, visitors to the school comment on how smart students look and our conversations with the majority of students are now much more positive, focusing on teaching and learning as opposed to lengthy discussions concerning the acceptability of uniform.
A more clearly defined approach to trousers and skirts has added great value to our college.
However, we are acutely aware that a minority of parents experienced issues with our suppliers especially with the range of trousers and skirts on offer. Moving forward, to ensure we support improvements we have worked hard over the past term to resolve these issues.
We would like to thank the parents’ focus group in supporting and working with us, helping us to steer and direct this process with all stakeholders in mind.
As a result of this, we organised a meeting with our suppliers to discuss items such as, sizing, price range, clarity of information on the website (returns policy) and asked that parents be advised in advance of any changes to trousers or skirt specifications. Due to some issues with a batch of Luton straight skirts, they have now offered an alternative same style straight skirt (David Luke).
Many parents expressed their wish for a greater range of suppliers. As a result, high street options are now available, including a wider range of sizing, lengths and pricing. In addition to Total Clothing’s range, you are now able to purchase an approved list of similar trouser styles from Asda, Tesco and Mark and Spencer’s (see approved trousers below).
As a point of clarity, please do not purchase skinny fit trousers as they will not be authorised.
A shop based in Burwell, Mr Cricket will also stock a small range of trousers and skirts to purchase or try on, as sold by Total Clothing. Additionally, high street trousers or those purchased through Mr Cricket are required to have a heat sealed logo. The heat sealed logo can be purchased and will be attached at Mr Cricket while you wait at a cost of £3.00.
Once more, to be clear: only approved trousers are able to have the logo attached.
The high street range will now be as follows:
- George at Asda – regular leg ½ elasticated waist black boys school trousers with belt loops £5.00
- George at Asda – basic straight leg girls trousers, thick waistband, three button and belt loops £5.00
- George at Asda – boys regular fit trousers, twin front pockets, adjustable waist band and belt loops, £6.50
- F&F at Tesco – boys flat fronted black regular fit school trousers, two pockets at front £6.00
