The Bottisham Student

The Bottisham Student

Our belief at Bottisham Village College is that, in addition to acquiring essential qualifications, every student should have the opportunity to develop a range of skills that will enable them to be successful at college, in employment and in life after school.

An extensive consultation with many of our stakeholders has led to the development of a set of skills and qualities which, we believe, will equip our young people for life in the modern world: the ‘Bottisham Student’. These aspirations fall into 5 key areas: creativity, reflection, enrichment, self-management and teamwork.  Though the college endeavours to offer a range of opportunities for students to make progress in each of the 5 areas through lessons and other activities such as trips and clubs, the onus is on students to lead their own personal development, with appropriate support from staff and senior students. We are currently in the process of revising and updating our vision for the Bottisham Student; any changes will be communicated in due course.

In addition, staff encourage Bottisham Students to develop a Growth Mindset, in order that they understand that their abilities are not fixed, but that they can be developed through resilience, dedication and hard work.
